About Us – Highline Air

Highline Air was founded by Brad and Jessica Sjostedt, a couple with a deep love for their hometown of Cordova, Alaska, and a passion for sharing the wild beauty of Prince William Sound with fellow adventurers. Born and raised in Cordova, Brad and Jessica have spent their entire lives surrounded by the awe-inspiring landscapes of Alaska, and their connection to this place runs deep. Their family’s roots in Cordova go back generations, and they have witnessed firsthand the vast wilderness and vibrant wildlife that make the region so special.

Brad’s Aviation Journey

Brad’s aviation career began with a love for flying that grew from his early years in Cordova. His passion for aviation was ignited by the freedom that flying offered in such a remote part of the world. Over the years, he built an impressive career in aviation, starting as a pilot spotting salmon and herring in the glacial-fed waters of Prince William Sound. Brad’s experience navigating the rugged Alaskan terrain, often at low altitudes, honed his skills in a variety of conditions—from the calm waters of remote lakes to the choppy seas around Cordova.

Brad’s expertise expanded as he became a Certified Flight Instructor (CFI), an Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) mechanic, and an Aircraft Inspector (AI). His work as a CFI has been particularly fulfilling, as he’s had the opportunity to share his love for flying with students of all skill levels, teaching everything from the fundamentals of flight to advanced techniques for flying in Alaska’s challenging weather and rugged landscapes. As an A&P, Brad has gained invaluable hands-on experience working on the mechanics of aircraft, ensuring they are always safe and ready for adventure.

As a commercial pilot, Brad has flown fishermen to remote spots along the coast, navigating the quiet coves and hidden bays where anglers can enjoy the solitude of Cordova’s pristine waters. His experience flying in the area has allowed him to develop a keen understanding of the local terrain, weather patterns, and unique challenges of flying in such a rugged environment. Whether it’s taking a group of adventurers to a secluded glacier or flying fishermen to their next catch, Brad’s expertise and knowledge of the land make every flight an unforgettable experience.

Jessica’s Role and Family Life

Jessica, also a lifelong resident of Cordova, plays an essential role in Highline Air, helping to manage the business and ensuring that each tour is executed smoothly. Together with Brad, they raised their three children with the same sense of adventure and respect for the wilderness that has defined their lives. For the Sjostedt family, their airplanes were not just tools of work—they were their vehicles to explore the vast wilderness of Alaska. From the flying trips to remote glaciers to the more routine flights over the Sound, their lives have always been full of adventure, travel, and discovery.

Living in Cordova has given the Sjostedt family a unique perspective on life in one of the most beautiful, yet isolated, places on earth. The breathtaking landscapes—from towering glaciers to emerald green fjords—serve as a backdrop for their personal and professional lives. This connection to their surroundings is a driving force behind Highline Air, as Brad and Jessica wanted to share the wonder of their home with others.
